At the moment, I am offering a limited number of animals for sale as breeding stock. The current stock consists of commercial North Country Cheviots from purebred lines, including Stonehouse, Isle of Skye, and Seguin breeding. In 2024, I purchased my first registered rams, Stoneally Lucky and Stoneally Leroy. Both rams are from Isle of Skye breeding stock in Alberta.Shortly after acquiring Lucky and Leroy, I purchased five registered ewes at the 2024 Canadian Sheep Classic: four yearling ewes and one ewe lamb.I am looking forward to seeing how these stylish animals improve my flock’s genetics. I anticipate offering registered Crooked Fence North Country Cheviots soon.

General Conformation: Characteristics common to all breeds

All animals should demonstrate overall balance from the standpoint of length, height, body capacity and body conformation. Extremes in any of these areas may be objectionable for a variety of reasons.

Overall balance is very important since the basic purpose of the sheep is meat and wool production and the purebred industry should be the foundation for breeding stock for both commercial and purebred sectors of the industry.

Body conformation should exhibit adequate muscle development and wool production characteristics while maintaining ease of lambing.

Teeth should meet upper pad evenly. Undershot or overshot mouths are a serious defect.

Rams must have two testicles and ewes should have two teats

North Country Cheviot :The North Country Cheviot is a breed that has been widely used in the north of England and Scotland for several centuries. They are independent sheep, strong willed, vigorous and very hardy in harsh climates and rough pasture. They are best suited to pasture based systems where the management is not intensive. The ewes exhibit superior mothering instincts and deliver lambs easily. The lambs are vigorous at birth with excellent survivability. Although they only demonstrate an average rate of gain, the carcass quality is very good with an above average yield percentage. North Country rams are often used in crossbreeding programs to pass on the maternal strengths of the breed as well as to produce desirable carcasses.
